The Feria y Fiestas del Rosario, held annually in Fuengirola, starts on Thursday 6th October 2011 and runs until Wednesday 12th October, 2011.

The fairground opens each day of the Feria. It is situated mainly on the grounds where the market is normally held on Tuesdays between Fuengirola and Los Boliches, (the weekly market will not take place on Tuesday 11th October).

There are many interesting events held over the 7 days for all age groups and tastes and we have listed below some of the highlights which have been supplied to us and are correct, as far as we know, at this time. There is an attractive brochure with all the full information (in Spanish and partial English) which is available from the Tourist Office situated in Fuengirola (very near to the indoor market).

Of particular interest to families with children, is the fact that Monday 10th October is ‘Children’s Day’ and the funfair for the children has a 50% discount at the fairground.

Thursday 6th October
From 8pm onwards – Novena Mass in honour of the virgin ‘Virgen del Rosario Coranada’
Opening Speech (Palacio de la Paz)

Lighting ceremony of the fairground

Performance by the Municipal Group of Coros y Danzas de Fuengirola.

Friday 7th October (Today is a local holiday in Fuengirola)
From 10.30am onwards – Flamenca Mass
Procession of the Virgin , Nuestra Señora del Rosario Coronada
Evening Extraordinary performance by Hombres G (Paid admission)

Saturday 8th October
12pm – 35th Horse Taming Competition
At the Fuengirola Bullring (Free admission)

5pm – 12th Equestrian Parade Virgen del Rosario 2011

10pm – 1st Music Festival for the Youth Feria del Rosario

5.30pm – Extraordinary Bullfighting

Children’s Day:

The Feria in Mijas Pueblo started today and runs until Sunday 11th September 2011.

There are many interesting events held over the 5 days for all age groups and tastes and we have listed below some of the information which is available to us at the time of writing. This has kindly been supplied by the Mijas Foreign Residents Department.

Wednesday 7th September 2011
12pm Bell ringing and rockets announcing the festivity of the patron saint of Mijas, the Virgin of the Rock.
6:30pm Rockets announcing the start of the fair and Parade around the village
10:00pm Official opening of the casetas and lighting of the fair ground.
   
Thursday 8th September 2011
11:00am Special Mass at the Parish Church
2pm-7pm Inauguration of the Day Fair around the gardens (by the Parish Church).
6:00pm Musical Bands parade.
9:30pm Procession of the Virgin of the Rock with different musical bands.
At the end, a great firework display.
   
Friday 9th September 2011
1pm-8pm Music and dancing at the Constitution Square & the gardens area.
4:00pm Seniors Dominoes Championship at the Pensioners Residence.
8:00pm Grand children´s party at the Official Caseta.
12:00am Grand performance by the group DANZ A INV ISIBLE.

Saturday 10th September 2011
11:00am Parade by CHARANGA musical group.
11:30am Popular games, painting, remote controlled car racing at La Muralla gardens.
1pm-8pm Music and dancing at the Plaza de la Constitución & the garden area.
4:00pm CRAZY RALLY at the Constitution Square.
6:00pm Horse exhibition at the Mijas bullring.
12:00am Grand performance by the groups:
MAITA VEN DE CA + RADIO MACANDE + EL TREN DE LOS SUE ÑOS.
Entrance fee: 5€. Ticket office open from 7PM.
   
Sunday 11th September 2011
Children´s rides will be 1.50€ for the last day of the Feria.
   
11:00am Traditional bicycle tour through the village, ending at La Muralla gardens.
Ribbon race: bicycles and scooters.
1pm-9pm Music and dancing at the Constitution Square & Gardens area.
8:00pm Tribute dinner for the Pensioners at the Official Caseta.
11:00pm Special performance with comedians:
JULIO A SECAS + SALVA REINA “CHUKI” + TONI RODRIGUEZ
FREE ENTRANCE
  Late night dancing with musical group: “A-COMPAS”
   
At the end of the performances, a great display of string of firecrackers to celebrate the end of the Mijas Fair 2011.

All children’s rides will be 1.50€ for the first day of the Fair.
   
7 PM – 8 PM Inscription for children’s fancy dress competition.
8 PM Fancy dress competition: girls, boys and couples.
11 PM Official opening of the casetas and lighting of the fair ground.

12:30 PM Painting competition at the parking area of La Cala Boulevard.
1 PM / 7:30 PM Day Fair. Music and dancing at the Torreón Square.
2 PM FREE GIANT PAELLA for everyone at the Torreón Square.
5 PM Traditional “tug of war” contest for adults between married and single couples.
7 PM AEROBICS organised by the Sport Department of the Mijas Town Hall on the beach.
9 PM HORSE EXHIBITION at the Fair ground.
12 midnight Special performance by the group MEDINA AZAHARA.
   
Sunday 31st July 2011
12 midday Traditional sandcastle competition for children under twelve on the Torreón beach.
1 PM / 8 PM Day Fair. Music and dancing at the Torreón Square.
4 PM Salsa group performance by Asociación de Mujeres Caleñas.
9 PM Tribute dinner for the 3rd age in the Main Caseta.
Performance by the Open University of La Cala Flamenco dance groups & Salsa group performance by Asociación de Mujeres Caleñas in the Main Caseta.
