Market lovers out there will be really pleased to hear that, finally, the market in Calypso (in between Calahonda and Riviera del Sol on the Mijas Costa in Malaga) has now re-opened.

It is held in its original place in front of the Valdepinos Commercial area (which has shops, banks, restaurants etc.) on a Thursday morning.

There are approximately 70 stalls selling a very wide range of produce including ‘Made in Mijas’ items, fruit & vegetables, olives, spices, nuts, ceramics, shoes and much more.

It is welcomed back by both local residents and tourist in the area.

The Mijas Local Police have opened an Information Office in Rivera del Sol with the aim to bring their work closer to the neighbours that reside in the large urbanization in this area of the Municipality.

This office, situated on Avenida del Golf, will be open from 9 pm to 2 pm, Monday to Friday. Attending the office will be a Local Police Agent and occasionally volunteer interpreters will be there to help foreigners place statements and other complaints.

The Local Government considers that this office will help “the local police to be closer to the neighbours of the Town and also improve the security” and this office will serve as a base for the services that the agents carry out in this area of the municipality.

The opening times are from Monday to Friday from 9am to 2pm – telephone 952 93 22 10

If you are interested in collaborating with the interpreter volunteer project that the Mijas Foreigners Department coordinates, please contact our office on 952 58 90 10 or via email frd@mijas.es  Volunteers are needed to cover the above service on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am until 12pm.

This information has kindly been supplied by the Mijas Foreign Residents Department.

We tried out the new Wok restaurant in La Cala at the weekend. We all agreed it was really great and we would happily recommend it to all our friends.

The staff were very friendly and really helpful. The food was fresh, good quality with a nice variety of what was on offer. Selections included traditional Chinese dishes, sushi, fresh meat and fish for the wok and grill area and some great ready cooked shelf fish dishes.

We loved the desert table which offered fruit, crème caramel, tiramisu, profiteroles and a large selection of ice cream including a lovely digestive lemon sorbet. We loved the focus the desert area had for kids with not just a great selection of ice cream but bowls of sweets which included marshmallows and jelly sweets.

They are open EVERY DAY from
13:00 – 16:30
19:00 – 24:00

You can find the wok restaurant at
La Cala de Mijas
Urbanizacion Urbanolia °2 – 3

Monday to Thursday Night:  11.95€
Weekends and Festivals:  13.95€
Children under 6 years: 5.95€

(These details were of course correct on the day this post was written / published).

FM Estates Blog Now Live

Post by: FM Estates

We have just launched the FM Estates company blog.

So what can you expect to find on our blog?

Company wise we will be writing posts about what we are up to and of course you will be able to see information on the properties we have just listed, but we plan to have more on our blog than just a list of the properties we have for sale….

We will be writing about general Costa del Sol news and information, with particular focus on the areas we specialize in (Riviera del Sol, Torrenueva, Miraflores and Calahonda) as well as other local areas within Mijas Costa.

We will try to keep you up to date on local events, good places to go and eat, fun for the family and more.

As a family run business I am hoping everyone in the family will be writing blog posts, which should give you a good range of opinions as we not only range in age (29 – 69) but also in what we look for from our lives in on the Costa del Sol (as near retired to parents of a 2 small children).

To find out more About Us and who we are please click here.
